How to Connect Your Instagram Account
Regent connects to Instagram through the official Meta OAuth flow. You need an Instagram Business or Creator account (not a personal one). Connection takes under two minutes and unlocks auto-publishing, insights, and DM automations.
Before you start
- An Instagram Business or Creator account (convert in the Instagram app: Settings → Account type)
- Admin access to that account
Steps
- 1
Open Settings
In Regent, go to Settings and scroll to the Instagram account section. You can also connect during onboarding step 6.
- 2
Click Connect Instagram
The browser redirects to the official Instagram/Meta login. Regent never sees your password.
- 3
Authorize the requested permissions
Approve access to the account profile, content publishing, and insights. These are the official Meta API permissions used for posting and analytics.
- 4
Confirm the connection
Back in Regent, your handle appears with an "Instagram connected" badge. The auto-posting toggle becomes available once the token is valid.
Frequently asked
Why does my personal Instagram account not work?+
Meta's API only allows publishing and insights for Business and Creator accounts. Convert your account in the Instagram app first: Settings → Account type, then reconnect.
Is connecting through Regent safe?+
Regent uses the official Meta OAuth flow — the same mechanism every approved Instagram tool uses. You log in on Instagram, not on Regent, and can revoke access anytime from your Meta settings.
What happens if my token expires?+
Regent shows the connection as inactive in Settings. Reconnect with the same button; your content and plans are unaffected.
